Well it seems that Julia Gillard and her team could be close to striking a deal with mining companies for the mining tax.
Reports have suggested that the proposed company tax rises will be shelved along with superannuation increases to get the tax through.
It is quite amazing how something that Kevin Rudd couldn’t do for months took Julia Gillard one week to achieve. It is truly amazing what can happen when people are actually willing to negotiate a win win situation instead of taking a stubborn stance for the sake of ego.
Anyway it is not a done deal yet but the word is that Julia Gillard has called a press conference for 8:30 tomorrow (2/7/10) morning so we will get the word then. For what it is worth I think we will be getting an election announcement at the same time or atleast very shortly afterwards.
